Windy City Racing Track Archive

Windy City Racing was a group of a few tracks builders who created some very interesting and unique tracks. It’s been a number of years since their website has offered the tracks that were created, so I thought it was a good time to make them available here.

I definitely suggest checking out the several large road courses they created. The scenery on some of the courses are most impressively put together.

Along with those impressive road courses are plenty of short tracks on both dirt and asphalt. I have included details/preview images for each track to make looking through them for something of interest for you a bit easier. Happy racing!

Bass Lake
Released: 2003
Author: Scott Dillner
Series Support: PTA (but should work with others)
Length: 8.2 mile road course
Description: (from the author) – Welcome to Bass Lake, Indiana! A 1500 acre natural lake in Northwest Indiana and a popular summer recreation destination. I spent many summers here as a kid (big and small) and I recreated the road around the lake as a race track. The speed limit on the real road varies from 20mph to 35 mph. Its a little over 8 miles around and a leisurly drive around the lake takes about 25 mins although hypothecilly it can be done in under 10 minutes With nr2003 its possible to do sub 4 minute laps. I loaded a satelite pic into sandbox and built the track from there. Its mostly accurate, a couple of the turns are more banked than the should be and a couple of bends and kinks are missing but its pretty close. This was my first track and took many many hours and other sacrifices over a period of months. Most of the time was spent learning the hard way.

Grundy County Speedway (Beta)
Released: 2005
Author: Scott Dillner
Length: 1/3 mile short track
Description: This is marked as a beta version, but I have not found the official release. As far as I can tell, it was mostly beta due to frame rate issues they had planned to address. Which, obviously this doesn’t matter on present day systems. In 2005 when it was released, this was a bit more of an issue. So, if you’re a Grundy fan, enjoy it!

Cloverleaf Speedway

Author: Sticky22 & StefanoDimera72
Length: 1/4 mile
Series: Cup, GNS, & CTS

Colorado National Speedway
Released: 2006
Author: Scott Dillner
Length: 0.375 mile
Description: This track is listed as 0.5 beta, so it may be a bit rough around the edges. Another great short track recreation of a real world track that is still active as of 2023 in Dacono, CO.

Desert Highway (DRC)
Released: 2006
Author: Scott Dillner
Length: 12.8 mile road course
Notes: Bad AI (0.5 alpha version)
Description: The track itself is a pretty wild drive, but the AI is a bit useless in certain sections for this one. But, she’s long, fast, and challenging! Also includes a rather ridiculous uphill slope near the start. Not certain a final version was ever actually released for this one.

Earsplitter Expo Center
Released: February 2009
Author: R. Rigdon (This version edited by StefanoDimera72)
Length: 0.2 mile indoor (Fantasy)

I-25 Speedway
Released: July 2007
Author: Scott Dillner
Length: 1/4 mile

This fantasy track is a complete reskinning of StrtRacrZ’s Eldora. The only part that remains is the surface itself. The AI appears to need work, based on my review.

Jefferson Speedway (Day Version)
Released: 2006
Author: Scott Dillner
Length: 1/4 mile short track
Description: Jefferson is a unique place. Back in 1990, the track was redesigned. Turns 1 & 2 are as they always were, but 3 & 4 were extended and given progressive banking. The results are some interesting racing as the inside line on one side of the track is preferred. The other side, the outside lane.
